Update on Sugar Free Challenge

If you are following my 21 Day Sugar Free Challenge head over to the 21 Days page, I just updated it this morning.

As you will read I have switched up the challenge a bit as I’m a rule bender breaker. I am completely aware that if you look for ways to bend every rule to it’s breaking point then there’s a good chance you aren’t so ready to make the change.  However, I am not willing to concede on this one.  Not yet.  Continue reading

Our Adoption Journey Update – Part 5

Considering we are almost to our next court day (like we are counting down the days in single digits) I thought I better continue our updating.

I believe I last left off with us finding out last fall that TM had decided to no longer pursue retaining custody.  For those who missed it check it out here. Once that decision was made we all believed that the process would speed up considerably.  Our next court date after that was less than 2 weeks.  Documents were signed on her part soon after in preparation for that day so that a judge could look at the case and close it up nice and clean.  However we all had another thing coming … Continue reading

Introducing ….

Huxtable!!! Our new dog!

DSC_0547

Yes, I’m crazy.  And I say I’m because Gent is not claiming to be a part of owning this dog.  Let’s just say there were a lot of negotiations that went into me getting this dog.  And apparently they were a good idea on Gent’s part because um … Lil’ Lady + Huxtable  when I’m at work or out = big trouble.  He says they know I’m gone and terrorize each other and if they were the same with me he’d be receiving terrible texts all day so it must be just in my absence they are bad.

Oh well. (Just kidding … sort of). Continue reading

21 Days

I’ve been away for a while as we’ve been pretty busy with some exciting things.

Last week we hosted a small surprise BBQ celebrating my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We have several close family as well as my mom’s maid of honour and her husband (whom we didn’t even know were coming for sure until they arrived!).   A good time was had by all, don’t ever underestimate the power of a simple get together. We had hoped to have it outside but it down poured all afternoon (enough that we had water in our finished basement for the first time ever – still haven’t figured out how it got in as it came up from the floor and the walls were bone dry). So 17 of us (including 2 toddlers) crammed into our small not-so-entertaining-friendly home and had a very good time.

Our other exciting news I will share with you tomorrow maybe with some pics (am I building some suspense?). Fun times! Continue reading

Odds and Ends

Here are just a few recent happenings in our house as of late…

* Diaperlessness
As many people know Lil’ Lady has had very terrible diaper rash (really it’s yeast problems) since birth (connected to some other issues) and last week it really flared up so we went diaperless for a couple of days and learned that she can hold things quite well. Off course her aunt was babysitting during one of these days and got the end result after the holding with an ‘un oh’ from Lil’ Lady whilst piddling in her aunt’s shoe. Uh oh indeed!

* Lil’ Lady businessed on the potty!!!
We’ve been practicing sitting on it a lot (with no results) but she needs something to do while sitting so it’s usually some Duplo blocks or the magic a.k.a. colouring. This time I pulled up the piano bench to her potty and got her colouring book and crayons out and when she was done she stood up and pushed the bench away then threw a crayon in the potty. I thought nothing of it until I looked and saw … well you can guess. I almost cleaned the crayon up until I realized that I really didn’t want to wonder if I got it all. There were many people informed via text about this accomplishment.

* Earlier this summer I had a friend of mine who just started a landscaping and yard upkeep business come and do some work as my legs were still not so good a couple of months ago. She cleaned out our front gardens and planted some decorative grasses as I asked her to make them low maintenance. Last week when she came to finish some things up where our fence was removed she had a fit when she saw her decorative grasses nearly dead and not grown hardly at all. She asked what I did and I honestly told her ‘You said to water them so I did … for the first 3 days. Wasn’t that enough?’ Needless to say it’s been a week and the dead has risen and our new grass seed is growing. Never underestimate a harsh talking to from a passionate gardener.

* I’ve reheated my tea three times since the afternoon naps started today
Toddlerhood.

* Dried Cherries
Not all I hoped for

* Mealtime
It’s also known as having a food fight (literally) 3 times a day. I am thankful we have food to fight with. And a little fighter.

Catch up!!

Well time got away from me last week though when I counted up how many appointments and playdates/coffee dates I had it’s no wonder, over a dozen!!!

However there were lots of pictures taken of Lil’ Lady so the grandparents shouldn’t be disappointed! I’m only going to post half as the ones I took on my phone didn’t come up so I’ll have to get them in order first. Here are a few to hold you over 🙂

Here is one poolside taken lastnight (these aren’t in any proper order) at Lil’ Lady’s birth maternal step grandma’s house (can you figure that one out?) while we were celebrating her maternal grandpa’s birthday!  She had lots of kisses for him and I enjoyed  lounging in the pool while everyone else chased her around!  **This was the millisecond after we took her lifejacket off before leaving in case any social workers are creeping me!! We left soon after** Continue reading
